In the grim aftermath of an alien invasion, Drew Butler must make a life altering decision, either get drafted or enlist. With his older twin brothers drafted, and either missing in action or killed, his father convinces him the only way to survive is to enlist and qualify for the T-1A77 Marine Combat Suit Program. The Suit, constructed and cross-engineered from an alien power source, it was the only weapon having success against the superior and more technologically advanced assailant. It would be the only way to increase his chances for survival.
Following his father’s advice, Drew finds himself thrown into a world he wasn’t quite prepared for. A world that was in disarray. The only structure he would find, would be that of the United States Marine Corps. Struggling to understand, Drew must find his way, his mission and his purpose if he wants to survive. The option for failure is death.

If the author served in the U.S. Marine Corp and this is how they treat their recruits then you don't want to go there. This story is set 26 years in the future and the world has been over run by an alien race who are hungry and want to eat humans. Rather than be drafted a young man joins up with the intention of wearing a super war suit. Incidently the world seems to be losing the war against the aliens who are not explained to us. Turns out the young man is like a Berserker when he is in this super suit. Not a bad story, but kind of discouraging, because humanity is losing so badly. All wars require adaptation on the part of combatants and the humans don't appear to be adapting very well.

Marine Summer Year 2041 eBook BE Wilson Scribendi Reviews
Great book! Read it in one sitting, action from start to finish. Quick review, good kid shows unusual ability and wreck's havoc.
The jargon used by the D.I.'s makes one wonder if the author 'suffered' thru his own 'Marine Summer'; it is so realistic and humorous. I am looking forward to the next installment.
Fun read. I would like to read just one Marine story that didn't go through all the boot camp crap. Just once. But, it did turn fun when our boy got in the suit. I'll read the next, just hope it's a bit longer.
I enjoyed this story very much, with the authors first person writing and lots of action. Nice alien invasion and military operations. Looking forward to sequel soon.
This one was a good one. I was disappointed that is was so short, your right in the middle of a war and the book ends. Also at the beging there were some pages that missing.
An alien invasion and subsequent destruction of civilization is the background for this story. The story follows a young man as he joins the marines in the hopes of being one of the few who use armored suits in battle. The author builds a dismal backdrop for the events and an alien species designed to be hated.
I was fooled by the reviews and found nothing new here that hasn't been done better elsewhere. A short novel that never really manages to draw me into it. The logistics involved in supporting the military in which our protagonist joins seems to be ignored as the author tells of a USA where little or no industry remains and the crop lands lay vacant and destroyed, yet a McDonalds is operating at his base.
The first half covers his boot camp, and the second covers his introduction to, and use of, the armored suits. Boot camp seems to be there to let the reader know the author is familiar with it and that pansies need not apply.
Little exposition on the design and make up of the suits, with the science of it falling into the nano-magic area. Our young hero turns out to be god-like when it comes to the suits, which of course he decides might not be a good thing. The armored battles are brief and usually covered with 'I didn't realize how many I had killed until it was over'. By the end, our young hero was killing hundreds of the aliens in hand to gun combat.
I finished the book, but the whole thing is rushed, poorly structured, and over-priced for the length and quality.
***** I noticed two not helpful votes appeared immediately after I posted this. Please feel free to leave a comment on why it was not helpful, and others might want consider the validity of other reviews if these reviews are being watched that closely and negative reviews are being trolled as they are posted.
In my opinion this book can be divided into two separate chapters, before suit and after suit. The before suit was more interesting. Once you reach the point where the main character starts to wear the suit the story becomes much less descriptive; he single handily kills thousands of aliens, this takes only several paragraphs. He and his suit become one, he is THE ONE, the one they have been waiting for, the person who will destroy the aliens. Did I hear someone say "The matrix"?
Read the book, it is fast paced. I will probably read the next installment. Just don't expect more anything more than a fast read, a thought provoking book this isn't.
